What is a Battery

A battery is an electrochemical device that stores and supplies electrical energy to a wide range of applications.
In automotive applications a battery provides electrical power  normally for engine Starting, Lighting of accessories and feeding the engine Ignition system. Thus the term SLI for automotive batteries.

There are three essential functions that a battery provides in an automotive application:
